KPMG - Couple's Form and Claim Registration Form

By Matt - Posted on 11 August 2008

KPMG have now issued some paperwork and guidelines for couples to register their claim, as well as a standard letter to send to credit card companies confirming that WrapIt are officially in administration. I have attached these for anyone who did not receive the email directly from KPMG, and you can download the files from this post:

Does anyone know whether it is the case that if we did not receive this directly from KPMG it means that we might still receive an email saying that we have goods in the warehouse (perhaps a little optimistic!).

I haven't recieved the email, but just checked the Wrapit site and they have my old email address listed (in my maiden name), despite it being updated months ago (the website used to show my updated details??), looks like they are working off details from when you registered your list.

Don't know if this will be the same for you?

I did not receive this email, and I know that I do not have any more items in the warehouse. I would however like to know why I didn't receive this email...?

I didn't get this email either - bit worrying...

I am also not receiving e-mails from WrapIt -- I suspect they are going to an old email address that is not longer active. Luckily my wife still seems to be on the mailing list, so I am posting things here as she gets them.

I have never changed my email address, and received the ones from Pepita before they went into administration. There can't be anything in the warehouse for us as I only closed my list on the 24th July...

I am trying to make sense of all this paperwork requirements.

1. Is the claim registration form for the couple to fill and send back to KPMG as a way to be clearly identified and added to the list of creditors?

2. As for the letter to all couples, can it be used by our guests as proof of administration to dispute refunds with their card issuer?

If there is any gentle soul out there would could cast light on this I would be ever so grateful.

My understanding (and certainly the way that I will address it) is that:

1. The form 2.12B is the notice of Administration which can be sent to credit card companies who request it. I have forwarded this on to my guests in case they need it.

2. The couple registration form is a way of identifying yourself as a creditor. It is also a way for KPMG to cross-check which gifts were delivered and which weren't.

3. I am going to enclose three attachments with my form to KPMG:

- My "thank you list" showing what customers ordered
- My "gift list" showing what was actually ordered when we closed the list
- A list of all addresses and what they purchased with a request that a letter goes to each of them detailing that their orders were never fulfilled.

The big confusion for me is between what was ordered by customers vs. what was ordered by us, as a couple. I still have not seen any definitive guidance on how this will be handled.

I did not receive this email either but was told by KPMG it was going to be posted on the Wrapit website today, I called them at 4.30pm this afternoon to be told that it would now be tomorrow! Seems to me that some people are being told one thing and others something else......all very frustrating and unecessary. I would also like to know how this letter is supposed to satisfy the credit card companies that we are not going to receive the gifts....we never managed to close our list and so will not receive one present! We are frequently being asked by guests what our delivery due date was but of course we never did have one, this letter is not really confirming that point.

i didnt get the email either, all seems rather strange. i had 20% ish delivered and know the rest is not there so whats the deal... again too much mish mash of info!

We didn't get the email either, but some of our guests seem to....without any text, just with an attachment!

Hi,
I, like many here are a bit confused.
My plan is to send
1. Claim letter to guests to send to card companies
2. Couples letter to KMPG with attachements of list etc

But what happens if ...
KMPG get really generous and pay myself and partner the full amount but some people have already claimed on credit card?

Also, is it worth giving the claim form to friends who paid debit?

Due to be married on Friday and would really like to have a defintive answer for guests by then so it's not the focus of the wedding!

Thanks
Claire

I am so frustrated!! These documents aren't clear at all. I did receive them but the letter doesn't actually state that there isn't anything for us in the warehouse - even though we know that there isn't. so how can my friends and family use that as proof???? They can use the document 2.12B on it's own, I suppose.

And the claim form? It seems that each guest needs to complete it in addition to us completing it. And with all the swaps that took place, it'll be a mess!!! HELP! Can someone please shed light on how we should effectively use these documents?

Thank you!

I think the claim form is for our guests, only because it asks for customer name, and wedding couple name further down the form?

The lack of appropriate instruction is terrible!

Nic

That's what I figured to - that it was for the guest. But the 1 1/2 pages to list the gifts not received is a bit much for each and every guest. That's why I felt it was very unclear.

I have just been on the phone to the help line - it seems that the wrapit customer claim form is for guests to fill out and send to their banks for a chargeback - they also have to send in the form stating that wrapit is in administration.

however on a personal note, my dad brought some of the items on the list and all his bank (Natwest) have asked for is a Administration letter.

Thanks Camilla, It would have been quite easy for KPMG to state this in their email - or would that just have been far too sensible?!

I've been on the Wrapit site and saved both my wedding list and thank you list as PDFs so I can just email everything out to all guests, if they are having to go through the hassle of this then I'd like to make it as easy for them as possible, so will try and provide them everything they need just in case.

Nic

We have not received any email from KPMG, so thank you very much for posting it here.

I gather this means there is now no hope of receiving the actual presents, and that we are being advised to seek refunds instead?

Thank you for any clarification,

Alice

Trust me -- this is not going to happen!

I got married in November and closed the list off in December - One of our guests has just told me that his Visa card company will not refund them as it has been so long (he brought the gift at the end of September 9 months ago), again I called the unhelpful help desk number.. they told me that the claim form is for situations like this - the guest would effectively become a creditor of wrapit. They will not find out for 7 weeks if they will get their money back or not. If lists were closed more recently I have a feeling that banks will refund the money as chargeback.
do you think its possible this situation can be made any more difficult!

Yet again I called the helpline this morning asking when this so called letter stating that we were not going to receive our gifts was going to be posted.....apparantley they are having difficulty uploading it onto the website and I have been told yet again it will be there today......I am not holding my breath as nobody at that call center really knows what the hell is going on....I actually had to insist that the unhelpful girl at the other end of the phone go and get somebody who actually knew what I was talking about, she seemed to think it was rather unusual that I should think that she should know the answer and that I should just put the phone down without the question being answered, the question put to her was why some people had received this letter from KPMG and not others and that surely they could not get away with not dealing with everybody in exactly the same manner......after a stand off and her realising I was not going to take 'I don't know the answer' as my answer she went off to find someone that did......I was informed that they have 60,000 of these emails to send and so they are doing it in sections......you may chose to believe this but quite frankly I think they just wanted me off the phone as why is it that spam mail can be sent out in millions???????????????????? It really would be more helpful to have a help line that actually did help!

Hello, a guest of mine based in the UK has just told me he received an email directly from KPMG informing them of WrapIt's administration. No information provided on what they should be doing with this information.

We had not yet emailed our guests, but will now do so asap, given that many guests also live abroad and will have no idea where this came from.

Have other people heard from their guests on an email they've received?

Thanks

Thanks for posting this Matt.

FYI. Our email address begins with 'Y' but our surname begins with S. We also closed our list on 28th July 2008. So on all counts we should be at the end of most email communication queues from KPMG!

We have just received the WrapitinAdministration@wrapit.co.uk email on Mon 11/08/2008 16:36. So if there is any alphabetical order or closed list order to the distribution list I would assume many people would have received something by now.

Hope that helps.

I have just phoned the helpline and asked them to clarify exactly what to do with each of these forms. I was told by the guy I spoke to that he had no idea what forms I was talking about and just to ignore them!
I then asked about guests from overseas and asked if they could rather e-mail to register themselves as creditors as most of my guests are in South Africa, where the post isn't great. He told me that it was 'tough luck' for them!

I think this 'helpline' is causing more confusion than before!

I've got a definitive answer as to what the Claim Form is for.

It is for people who are unable to get charge back from CC companies (i.e. people who paid with cash, debit card, cheque etc.) to put in a formal claim to KPMG for monies owed to them by wrapit. The people who do this will be mainly guests but may include couples who "topped up" their list with cash. They should complete the form and return it to KPMG, thereby lodging a claim for a specific sum of money owed to them as unsecured creditors.

Of course, for all the good it will do them, they could take the form and fold it into a fetching paper hat. This will be slightly more fun and no less likely to earn them any money.

"may include couples who "topped up" their list with cash."

Just wondering - are people having difficulty getting a chargeback/refund for the amount they paid to top up the list to complete sets? We are still waiting to hear about that from our credit card company. We lodged our claim early last week.

I don't appear to have a wedding list reference number, which is required on the customer claim form.

Any ideas?

Hi
It took me an age to trawl thru' my emails. Luckily for us, I sent an email very early on to the 'contact us' link on the wrapit website, just after we set upo ur list in May 2008. My message was then forwarded on to our wrapit consultant and the bottom of the forwarded message listed the wedding ID number. I don't think we were ever supposed to get that message as a couple.

I didn't see any wedding ID number on any other communications though. It wasn't on the 'someone has bought you a gift emails' or on any other direct communication between us and the consultant. My presumption is therefore that unless you used the contact us email on the site to inititate a question, you might never have seen your wedding ID number.

Apologies as is is rather a convuleted answer but hope it helps a little.

The Wedding ID is also on the emails (in the subject) for Product Updates - if you kept them. It is very bizarre on their part!
