WrapIt - Credit & Debit Card Refund List
We are compiling a list of how each of the various card issuers are responding to WrapIt customers. Please add your experiences here -- there is a link at the bottom of the page for adding a new report.
Please excuse the poor formatting of the table below -- I am still working out all the glitches, but wanted to get something listed here sooner rather than later, even if it is ugly!
| Card issuer | Country | Type of card | Refunded under £100? | What evidence was required? | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CitiBank American Airlines AAdvantage card | United States | Other Credit Card | Yes | The KMPG letter confirming the adminstration was sufficient, though not even sure the card company required to see it. | Following a phone call, company told guest they will issue a conditional credit, whilst they chase KMPG. However regardless of outcome, they will still uphold the credit given neither the guest or couple received what was promised. £93 gift bought in early April 08. |
| Abbey | United Kingdom | Other Debit Card | No | Filled in form | Guest filled in forms and was led to believe would be able to claim refund. Abbey did not refund in the end. |
| Alliance & Leicester | United Kingdom | Visa (Credit) | Yes | Proof of administrtion order | |
| Alliance and Lester | United Kingdom | Switch (Debit) | Yes | Non | Guest already has refund. They had no paper evidence of the wrapit situation because we haven't received anything from the administrators yet. Apparently the lady that our guest spoke to was very helpful and expressed how upset she was that we may not receive our gifts. |
| Amex | United Kingdom | American Express Credit Card | Yes | Awaiting proof of administration from KPMG | |
| ANZ | United Kingdom | Other Debit Card | Yes | Unknown | |
| barclays | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | proof of administration although email was enough | going to send a disputed transaction form in post | |
| Barclays | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Address difficult to find so here it is - Barclaycard House, Dept DCS, 1234 Pavilion Drive, Northampton, NN4 7SG. I know it says B'Card but i promise you that this is also for the debit card chargeback scheme. | ||
| Barclays | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Yes | Unknown | Gave refund |
| Barclays | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Yes | Unknown | |
| Barclays - GoldFish | United Kingdom | Mastercard (Credit) | They require negative letter in cardholder's name from KPMG. | No charge back will be made until evidence in form of letter from KPMG in name of credit card holder. I have written to KPMG requesting such a letter. | |
| Citibank | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | None | My full amount (£572) was refunded within 3 days. They only requested a formal written request be faxed to both Citibank and Visa, however I did send along proof of purchase and the formal administration letter. | |
| Clydesdale Bank | United Kingdom | Other Debit Card | No | Clydesdale Maestro not offering any protection to customers | |
| Egg | United Kingdom | Visa (Credit) | KPMG letter from website plus date list was closed | refund within a week of sending kpmg letter | |
| First Direct (Division of HSBC) | United Kingdom | Visa (Credit) | Date of Closing list, Due Date of delivery (12 Wks), What was delivered & £ (if anything), What was outstanding & £ | First Direct have been fantastic, we processed our claim on Monday 28th July, once we received the first email from wrapit saying they were having difficulty. first Direct could only act once wrapit went into administration. They have now put in the request to get a refund and it could take anywhere up to 3 months before we get a response. | |
| First Direct (part of HSBC) | United Kingdom | Maestro (Debit) | No | "At this point in time they are not able to refund to customers who paid with Maestro cards. What they have said is that KPMG are going through order lists and stock lists to see what can be fulfilled in the way of orders" | |
| GE Money | United Kingdom | Mastercard (Credit) | Details passed to Back Charge team (who don't take calls). They have a target of 28 days to respond. | ||
| Halifax | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | No | Halifax indicated they will claim a refund from wrapit but that this was not guaranteed and unlikely. | |
| Halifax | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Halifax requires a form to be completed, however staff are seemingly unaware of this or the chargeback process. You should go to the branch and ask for the form entitled "DEBIT CARD Point of Sale (UK & International) Transaction Query Form - Non Fraudulent". | ||
| HSBC | United Kingdom | Maestro (Debit) | No | None | HSBC Maestro is not offering any protection to customers |
| HSBC | United Kingdom | Maestro (Debit) | None | I have been told my account will be credited 20/8...there seems to be some confusion with HSBC Maestro where some people have been told to just contact KPMG and register as an unsecured creditor but in fact they even called me back to advise YOU CAN register a dispute...be persistent! | |
| HSBC | United Kingdom | Maestro (Debit) | First response from HSBC was "NO" but I kept pushing and after mention of the FOS opinion that chargebacks are not exclusive to credit cards HSBC have agreed to raise a Dispute Form (on the grounds that the gift was not dleivered) for my purchase and persue for a refund. | ||
| i24 - Goldfish | United Kingdom | Mastercard (Credit) | No | Required a letter from KPMG stating gift was not going to be delivered. | Have been passed from pillar to post. Goldfish said they require a letter saying gift would not be delivered. KPMG (administrators) FAq on wrapit website say they are not in a position to reply to individual queries. Therefore no letter will be forthcoming and will not be able to claim a refund. |

| MBNA | United Kingdom | Visa (Credit) | Asked me to contact Administrators for proof that goods would not be delivered. | Letter sent to Administrators but still waiting for reply. Also credit card payment went through Paypal so this may complicate matters - seen reports that may have to claim through them instead. | |
| Mint | United Kingdom | Other Credit Card | quite a lot, and said no at first. | They did eventually refund the money, but seem to have been very obnoxious about it, which is interesting given that they are the only one of my guests that I was 100% sure would get their money back (as it was over £100). Lucky my guest is a lawyer, but it shouldn't be this hard... | |
| Nationwide | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Yes | They asked for proof of administation and proof that the gifts had not been delivered. | Not very helpful. They asked for more information before even considering a refund. Proof of administration and proof that gifts had not been delivered. Wanted it sent in before they would investigate any further. |
| Nationwide | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Has anyone information about this Visa Debit Card regarding refunds? | ||
| Nationwide | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | The letter KPMG have posted on this website | ||
| Nationwide | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Yes | Proof of administration. Letter from wedding couple confirming non-delivery of goods. | Called N/wide customer services and was pretty much fobbed off. So went into local branch and representative I spoke to said they wouldn't refund a Visa debit transaction and that they didn't even have a Visa debit transaction dispute claim form but that I could try submitting my claim on a Visa credit dispute claim form. His colleague, who seemed pretty new and inexperienced, then proceeded to find a Visa debit claim form on the system (!) and printed it off for me. Completed this in branch. Heard back from N/wide's Visa Disputes team within a couple of weeks, who asked for a letter of confirmation of non-delivery of goods from wedding couple. Within 10 days of providing them with this I received a letter advising that my account had been credited. Next time I would not bother with clueless staff in Customer Services and in branch but would write directly to the Visa Disputes team (address: Visa Disputes, Nationwide Building Society, Nationwide House, Pipers Way, Swindon, SN38 3GN), who have been very efficient and cooperative. |
| Natwest | United Kingdom | Maestro (Debit) | Yes | None | Guest had to speak to a number of people but finally spoke to someone on the Customer Helpdesk who found that Natwest have a policy in place for Wrapit customers that is allowing refunds even on debit cards. |

| SMILE ( ONLINE BANK) | United Kingdom | Visa Debit | Yes | My letter to the KPMG asking 2 confirm administration. P Geraldi' s email announcing administration | I also added a BBC article announcing the administration. The bank never asked for more. I had to phone the bank twice to get someone helpful. 1st u must register your claim online via the customer service section.
